Photoshoot Makeup Tips.

1) If you're going to be photographed, do not use a primer on your face. You want the makeup to blend in for a photo, not sit on your face.

2) Use a pressed powder when setting a concealer. I feel this is a better process versus translucent powder, for a photoshoot. Occasionally, translucent powder can appear white on your face when you are photographed due to the flash.

3) Blend! This is a big tip all the time! Blending is so important. You never want to look like you have all these sharp lines across your face. Blend that eyeshadow, that foundation, and everything else you apply on your face.

4) Foundation Match. Obviously, your foundation should ALWAYS match your actually skin tone. When you are photographed everything is prone to show, make sure the skin tone on your face blends in perfectly with the rest of your body.

5) Ofcourse, moisturizer your face so that all the products on your face set in versus appearing flakey and discolored when photographed.

Contouring and Highlighting

THE ART OF CONTOURING AND HIGHLIGHTING by Arielis

What would be of my life without Contouring and highlighting?? Death most likely.
Ever since I learned about the concept of contouring and highlighting, I do not leave it out of my makeup routine. I see it as a verrry important step, such as applying moisturizer to my face. I do it regardless! The way my face looks after the process is complete, makes me feel like I can conquer the world.
Okay okay okay, so what on earth is contour and highlight? It is the balance of shadow and light that helps features on your face come forward, as well as recede. The whole aspect of this makeup technique is to bring out your best features and hide the minor ones that you might not like. Contouring and Highlighting completely changes your appearance and you become an intensified version of yourself. Think of your beauty, times a million. Trust me, all these celebrities use this technique of Contour and Highlight.

Contour
The way I see it, this technique can literally help you alter the way your face appears to the eye. With a darker shade of makeup you can create a shadow, which helps recede a feature on your face. I guess you can say that contouring works as temporary surgery that you can wipe off before going to bed.

Highlight
This is obviously the complete opposite of Contouring. Highlighting is exactly what the word says, highlight. This technique helps you bring out facial features and exploit them. These are the features that the eye is first drawn too.

Now that we've got the meanings down packed, lets talk about the actually application process. This, my friends it not a difficult one. Your ultimate goal is to make it all look natural in the end. To contour your face you will need a product that is at least 1 or 2 shades darker than your skin tone. To highlight, you will need a product that is light and standoutish (not even a word), but not heeeeeey-I-totally-want-you-to-see-my-crazy-highlight.

Okay, so now that we all know what contouring and highlighting is, how do we do this on ourselves? There are many different ways to contour and highlight; ultimately it all depends on your face shape. But here are some ways to apply this technique on yourself:

Thin Nose
If you want a thinner nose without going under the knife (ouch), all you have to do is shade the edges of your nose with a matte face bronzer, using an eyeshadow flat brush. Apply the product along both sides of the bridge of your nose from the inner corner of the eyes down to the tip of the nose. To blend, you can use a blending brush or your fingers. Simply blend the products downward towards your cheeks. This will ensure that your contour looks natural. Then apply a highlight shadow down the center of your nose. Do this lightly, and blend to reach a natural look.

Emphasize your Cheekbones
After you have applied your foundation, you can use a Matte bronzer and a highlight powder to help you pull out those cheekbones that love to hide. Apply your Matte powder under your cheekbones. The fishy face will help you with this one. Begin from the top part of your ear and down halfway towards your mouth (stop right before the apples of your cheeks). Blend the bronzer into your skin and use foundation to clean up right under where you placed the bronzer and have straight edges. Apply a highlight right above your bronzed section (above your actual cheekbones) This will bring your cheekbones out.

Jawline & face shaping:
Using the matte bronzer, shade right along you jaw line to create an illusion of a thinner face. This trick can hide a double chin & a long chin. If you apply bronzer to your hair line and blend it well, it will make it appear as if your forehead has minimized in size.

Browbone Highlighting
Applying a Highlight to your brow bone will give your eyes and brow a lift. After your eye makeup is complete, apply a soft highlight (cream or white) color under your brow. This will immediately bring your arch a kick!

So that is ittt my people!!! This process is so simple and can do so much for you.
I hope i have answered some questions and can triggered your contour and highlighting addiction. :)

Love yaaa

1) Helpful tips will be coming to my readers once a month, and they will be tips that I know work and are helpful, along with little homemade tricks for the skin and body.
2) HAULS - whenever I go makeup/beauty shopping, I will do I post on what I got and why I got it.
3) Tutorials - These are verbal ones, until I get my awesome camera, then you guys get to see me in action. :)

Brows

Anybody that knows me, knows that I love brows and I like them bold! They are my thing when I have clients. I make sure that their brows look great and on point.

COLOR:
They say that your brows should always be a shade or two lighter than your hair color. But honestly, I go for whatever shade I feel comfortable in. Yes, for someone who is first starting out in the venture of shading in their brows, that tip can make your life way easier. For me it's something thats not too light nor too dark- regardless of my hair color. But I would definitely go for dark versus light. By dark i mean dark brown/espresso NOT BLACK.

Black is a no-no when it comes to brows. Its such a harsh color and it makes your brows look super fake! So keep anything black (eyeshadow, liner pencil) AWAY from your brows.

SHAPE:
If your brows are not done it honestly does not matter what you wear, what hair style you do, or what lipstick you wear, YOU WILL FEEL INCOMPLETE. That's because Brows shape our faces. They provide a frame and a balance to our look. The second you get your brows done you feel clean, brand new, and unstoppable. Shape, along with everything else that has to do with brows, is important. There are many different shapes and sizes for brows. Some can compliment you and some might make you look rediculous. There is a brow diagram that I learned about while in school that helps you know where your brow should begin, where the arch should be, and where your brow ends. You can use anything with a straight edge to measure these three points.

a) place the brush vertically from the edge of your nose and extend it upwards.
b) A diagonal line from the edge of the nose extended upwards passing through the outer corner of the eye.
c) to determine your arch, you place the brush diagonally from the edge of your nose, and pass it over the pupil. With this I mean, the brush should be aligned from the corner of the nose, the center of your eye, and upward to highest point of your brow.

Your face shape has a lot to do with what eyebrow shape flatters you the most. These diagrams below show and describe what rules you should follow according to your face. Of course you do not have to follow these, but they are very good to know just in case you have a change of heart one day.

Please please please remember that your brows are sisters, not identical twins; they do not have to look exactly alike.

PRODUCTS:

The type of product you use on your brows also have an affect on how they look.

Brow Pencil: provides volume to the brow. Brow pencils usually have fine points which makes it easy to use when trying to create little strokes that imitate hair.

Brow Shadow/Powder: creates depth in the brow. When you want fuller, darker brows, shadow is the way to go.

Brow Gel: Come in all shades from brown to blonde to red to clear. They provide a hold for your brows and the product you applied to them. Think of brow gel as hairspray.

Spoolie: Mascara Wand like brush that I believe everyone should own. It makes blending much easier for you. It helps leave your brow looking natural.

When shading in your brows, a natural look is always lighter at the beginning of the brow and darker towards the tail of the brow. When you apply your brow gel/pencil/shadow on your brow, remember to blend the product with a spoolie/brow brush (looks like a mascara wand) to avoid the look of harsh uneven brows. You can use concealer to clean up the edges of your brows and make them look sharp and fresh.

MY BROW FAVORITES:

My favorite brow products are:

1) MAC Brow Pencil in Spiked

2) MAC eyeshadow in Espresso
3) ELF Clear Brow Gel
4) ELF Tinted Brow Gel in Dark Brown
5) ELF Spoolie Brush

hope your guys learned something new today, see you next time.  xoxo

Wifiii

I finally got internet connection!!!!! When I moved in to my new apartment I had no type of internet whatsoever! Until Mommie put some wifi. So I am beyond happy about that. Also I have been very busy with many clients since it is Prom season. But now I am back for good!

I have new ideas for my blog; changes I would like to take on (as you guys already know). You guys will definitely see the difference once it begins. I'm thinking about purchasing a new laptop, since mine is extremely slow; that way, blogging and youtubing isn't a problem.

I am so glad to be able to blog again! Stay tuned for some new photos of my work that I did on some clients.

Youtube Channel Idea

I am planning on creating a Youtube channel in the months ahead *claps like a retard seal* I KNOWWWWWWWWWW SUPER EXCITINGGGGGG.

I actually already have a channel, but I never posted a video of any sort & now I am seriously considering on starting my own beauty Youtube channel. I know that there are many other beauty channels on youtube (very good ones at that); which is one of the reasons why I feared creating one; BUT I realized that I know a lot of tricks, tips, & flips that can be a great asset to the youtube community.  One more great makeup artist on youtube can never hurt. I guess my entire point on this is to be able to grow and have my readers and viewers grow with me, to progress my techniques and my knowledge as well as to teach you way more on makeup and beauty.

I have already began to do my research as far as camera and lighting. I am planning on launching my Youtube Channel in the Summer. I know it seems far, but aside from settling into my new apartment and making it feel like 'home', it gives me some time to gather the right equipment, create a setup, and make sure that the quality and the idea is perfect,  I must admit that this pretty darn exciting.

So stay tunedddddd for this great adventure of my youtube channel experience!!

yay ussss!

Very upset Blogger/New Ideas for the Blog

My darlinggggg readers!!!!!!

I am beyond upset that Blogger has not let me post in what feels like FOREVER!!! I have so much posting and updating to do. Please do not feel like I have forgotten about you because I haven't. Blogger had a maintenance blah blah blah issue. I do hope that issue is resolved completely and not partially, because the most annoying this is being able to post one day, and the next day not being able too.

ANYWAYS,
so I have been very busy lately; I'm moving to a new apartment so I've been packing, cleaning, and doing all that crap. With that also comes planning the decor and layout of my new apartment. SO DARN STRESSFULLLL. Especially when you are like myself, where you want everything to be fabulous and perfect. There's just so much going on. But I have a new plan for the blog in mind. I want it to be your perfect go-to blog for anything beauty. With that said, starting in May I want to spice it all up, maybe do some videos, hauls, Giveaways, etc. So stay tunedd!!!!!!!!!

I love you all.

Spring is heeeerre (i think)

Sooo SPRING is finally here (or so they say; it was snowing just the other day here in NYC) but regardless it's 'here'. That means that we're saying bye bye to the heavy winter makeup and pale skin and hellooo to  soon-to-be tan lines, tinted moisturizers, sun, and pure happiness. I am beyond happy that Spring is 'here' because it means we're closer to summertime and the Lord knows how sick and tired I am of this cold weather. But getting back to my point, when it all comes down to it, the heavy, fall, dull [just kidding my beautiful plums and browns, you know I looooove you] products in our makeup bags right now will be put aside and will be replaced with vibrant and light ones. Spring is all about color, POW! types of hues of course. What are my spring must haves? Well I'm glad you asked. Here is my List:

Waterproof Mascara
I think we should own a waterproof mascara ALL year round.
Emerald Eyeshadow
Pantone's Color of the Year. Anything emerald will do. This color is beyond words, vibrant, flashy, AWESOME.
Tinted Moisturizer
Killing two birds with one stone: Coverage & Moisture. It's light and easy to work with.
Coral Lipstick
Coral itself is a beautiful color, but during the spring and summertime it's a fantabulous color. You cannot go wrong with coral on the lips.
SPF Skin Moisturizer
During this time of the year, our skin is exposed more. We cannot forget how important it is to protect our skin from the sun. Yes, the sun is great and we all love to tan, BUT it can kill us (sorry), so protect yourself  with an SPF moisturizer- its always better to be safe than sorry.
Curl Locking Formula
Our beautiful locks of hair will be wet most of the time [ain't nobody got time for hot salons] so purchase a good curl lotion, to keep your hair soft, frizz-free, healthy, and gorgeous!

Colorful Nail Polish
This is what I mean by POW! colors; CoralEmeraldTealYellow, anything that will pop will do. Just put that baby on your nails and wear it like a boss.
Chapstick
Sometimes, people neglect the lips [I don't know why, if this is such an important part on our face]. They get hurt as well by our little friend, the Sun, so protect them with a chapstick and please make sure that it has some SPF in it.

Pink Blush
No more brown [gosh who am I kidding, I will never get rid of my brown blush, I love it too darn much hahaha] but seriously, a pink blush would not hurt [this is me trying to take my own advice as I type]. It can  make a difference.

Lastly, Deep clean your brushes and get rid of winter germs!!!!! Yikes.
You can use a good cleanser or baby shampoo.

***This is my theory about ANYTHING that has to do with babies, by babies I mean baby shampoo, baby wipes, baby oil, etc. IF IT'S GOOD FOR A BABY IT'S GREAT FOR US.***

hope this comes in handy. Love you all. xoxo

Makeup Must Haves

I have been asked many times what I think are some must haves in a makeup bag. I never really knew because I pretty much used everything in mine, then over the years I realized that there were certain products that you NEEDED to have no matter what. It's a short list, but it can change the way you do your makeup and how awesome it will look.

1) a Primer.
Primers are always great to apply before you apply your foundation. It makes sure that the oil stay away and that your foundation looks good. It basically acts as a base for your makeup.

2) a good Moisturizer.
If you don't moisturize, your skin can possibly become hard to work with because the skin will be tight and airless. Sooner or later during your application process all the motions done to your face will cause your makeup to appear flaky.

3) a clear mascara/gel.
I love me some clear mascara!!!!! You can apply it on your brows and your lashes, its awesome. Keeps hair in place and locks in powders and waxes to your brows.

4) beauty blender.
We know that sometimes we don't have time to go through that time consuming process of apply foundation. If you get a blender you can apply foundation to your entire face in like 60 seconds. I am not even kidding. Hahaha

5) Eyeliner.
Obviously we all own an eyeliner. Its top five in my book mainly because it can change your eyes in sooo many ways.

6) Blush.
Get a blush that is at least a shade or two shades darker for contour and one a pink/orange blush that suits you. Apply the darker color on your cheek bones and the pinky/orangy (don't even think orangy is an actual word lol) on the apples of your cheeks. This will help you make your face look Ahhhhmazzzing.

7) Mascara.
DUH!!! I love me some mascara. It makes us look sexaaaay. Mascara helps our lashes stand out & potentially making our eyes appear outstanding.

8) Lippies
A Red and a Nude lipstick are the only two lipsticks you need to survive. I mean, i personally LOVEEEEEE lipstick and I can never have enough of them. BUT, if you only need two simply colors that can possibly transform a look its definitely Red and Nude.

9) Concealer
Ummmm, if you do not own a concealer, I honestly don't know what you're doing with your life (hahaha kidding), but seriously speaking, a concealer can hide away soooo many flaws on our faces. The possibilities are endless. I guess you can say that it acts as a temporary eraser to those dark circles, sun spots and all those other annoying marks on our faces. Trust me when I say that a concealer is THE way to go.

hope these helped!
till next post. love you all xoxo

Classic

During World War 2, resources for makeup were scarce, limiting women to only a small handful of products. Their signature look was Matte Skin, Red lips, Arched brows, and a barely there semi-winged liner. For them, red Lipstick was a 'War Time Accessory'. It became a staple. Being that the men were away at war, the women became the strong ones. The ones who worked, payed bills, and took on their husbands roles. They were strong and daring. This look is a timeless classic.

Eyes: MAC' Orb eyeshadow all over lid, ELF 3-in-1 black Mascara, MAC' Pure White Chromagraphic Pencil on my waterline, MAC' Blacktrack Fluid Line for my winged line.

Lips: MAC' Matte Russian Red

Cheeks: MAC' Harmony & MAC' Raizin

Helpful Five

Chipped Nails:
I get sooo tired of doing my nails on Monday to come and realize that they're already chipped on Wednesday. So basically my helpful tip is to apply a thin layer of clear nail polish every two days. Then just watch how long it actually lasts :)

Smokey Eye Mess:
There was a time where I used to do my smokey eye after doing my foundation and concealer only to realize that i had the black eyeshadow all over my face. So here's a trick! Do your smokey eye before applying your foundation, this way you're also cleaning whatever mistakes and mess you made. This tip has changed my life forever hahaha!

Winged eye liner:
Applying eye liner just above your upper lashes can change your eye tremendously. It helps enhance your eye in a way that you cant even imagine. So if you have a little time, simply do a quick liner and see how great you'll look.

Red Lipstick:
Not very red lipstick is good for every skin color. If you have warm undertones, go for a warm toned red. If you have cool under-tones, go for cool reds. (Post on lipstick coming soon)

Seasons come and Go:
Seasons change all year round. This means that you will not need to use your winter products during the spring. During the hotter months i recommend you use lighter products. (Its HOT no need for one thousand products on your face)

False Lashes

FALSIES FALSIES FALSIES, the dilemma begins. This is a topic many girls I know love to keep untouched. But I must admit, I was one of those girls that would keep all of her false lashes in the bottom of her makeup kit; away from sight. I guess it was the thought of attaching something with GLUE to my eye that scared me off a bit [I mean DUH you're going to be a little afraid, its our eyes we're talking about, one of the most sensitive features on our face.] Then one day I thought, what's the difference between applying falsies and using mascara, eyeshadow, contacts or any of those other products we use on our eyes? The answer? NOTHING. NADA. ZIP. Just like every other eye product, false eye lashes (and lash glue) are made with the eye in mind.
They make your eye appear much more sexier and flirtatious.
No, your lashes are not going to fall out.
No, the glue is not going to get into your eye [unless you don't follow the steps.]
No, the glue is not permanent.
No, the application process is not going to cost you an arm and a leg.
No, the removing process is not difficult.

The glue that most Makeup Artist use is DUO Eyelash Adhesive glue [ranges from $7-$9]. This glue attaches the band lash to your real lashes and keeps them on until you are ready to remove them. It is latex based so if you're allergic to latex, sadly, you should stray clear. :(

** Please note that when using falsies for the first time, it will feel weird and heavy on your eye. This is because you are applying a strip of hair to your eye. Bare with it.**
Okay so whats the process? Its fairly easy.

STEP 1: Choosing the Lashes you want
Of course there are many different kinds of lashes. There are different colors, sizes, types, forms, etc. Some of them are natural, some of them are super duper dramatic. If you want a cat-like eye, you'd go for a pair of lashes that are longer towards the end of the lash and if you want a more natural eye, you'd get a pair of lashes that resemble your natural lashes.

STEP 2: Sizing
You finally bought the lashes you want along with the glue. Next thing you do is size the lashes. You remove them from the packaging and gently bend them back and forth to loosen up the lash strip. You then place it on top of your lash line [do not begin the lashes directly on the inner corner of your eye but a few millimeters away]. If you realize they're way too long [width wise] just cut the extra piece that you will not be using.

STEP 3: Curl
With an eye lash curler, give your lashes a quick curl. Not an extremely tight gripping curl like you would to your natural lashes. The last thing we want is to damage them.

STEP 4: Adhesive
Personally, I NEVER apply the glue directly to the band lashes, mainly because the applicator of the Duo glue may cause you to apply an excessive amount of glue. I either use the back end of a small brush [like a liner brush, lip brush etc.] or a Q-tip stick. Once you dab some glue from the tube onto the back end of a brush or Q-Tip. Next, hold the lashes and GENTLY run the glue along the strip of the lash. Make sure to apply a bit more glue to the outer corners of the strip, because lashes tend to remove themselves from the corners of our eye if there's not enough glue. After the glue is on the lash strip, wait a couple seconds so that the glue can become tacky; this way it stays on forevaaaa! [Just kidding; not forever at least, but it will grip onto your lashes way better].

STEP 5: Applying the Lashes
Using either a pair of tweezers or your fingers, grab the side of the lash [make sure the lash strip is facing you] and looking into a mirror; place the lash strip directly above your natural lashes.

STEP 6: FINALLLLLLLY
You have reached the end of this big stepping stone in your makeup life [LOL]! You can apply a coat of mascara, so that your lashes and the falsies blend together.

REMOVING THE LASHES:
When I remove false lashes, I dab some baby oil or an eye makeup remover with a cotton ball, this way the glue will dissolve and the lashes will peel away easily. Remember, these falsies are attached directly onto your real ones so please DO NOT just pull these off until you dissolve the glue.

I hope everyone goes out soon and purchases a pair of false lashes and glue. Go on and try to apply a pair yourself and see how you feel. See how the lashes look and how they make your eye appear. Be patient and calm and you'll look fabuloussssss!

Helpful Five

Nude Lipstick:
ummmm if you do not own a Nude Lipstick, please go out right now and purchase one. A nude lipstick is an essential part in a makeup bag (as well as a Red one). They save your life when you're in a rush, they're easier to work with and can go with any look you have planned. My favorite Nude Lipstick for myself is MAC' Jubilee also YSL Sweet Honey.

False  Lashes:
Falsies are awesome for a night out or a special event. They're for those nights where an extra coat of mascara just won't do. Many females stay clear from this beauty accessory but I promise it's not as hard as you think. Falsies add definition to your eye and I promise you will be feeling yourself once you have them on.

Lemon Juice and Acne Scars:
Applying lemon juice to acne scars 3 times a week will help to lighten them and improve the surrounding skin tone. (I've tried it, it works).

White Eyeshadow:
Applying white/shimmer eyeshadow to the inner corners of your eyes and your brow bone will make your eyes pop. It will highlight your face and will have you saying goodbye to that 'I had a late night' face.
(You can also use white eyeliner as a base for your eyeshadow.)

Black Mascara:
A good black mascara can open up and define your eyes in an instant. Its good to apply mascara from the roots to the tips for extra length and volume. Also, don't ever forget your bottom lashes- they help frame your eyes.

PARIAN SPIRIT Review!

BEST. BRUSH. CLEANER. EVER.

I am not lying on how great this brush cleaner is. The first time I used this product was when I attended Beauty School. My teacher swore by it (now so do I). Its magic in a bottle and smells wonderful.

What it is:

This product is a brush cleaner that smells like oranges and leave your brushes cleaner than ever. Seriously. It takes the red lipstick color out of my lip brush without a problem. The package i ordered from Beautylish included an 8 fl oz. bottle that is used to refill the 2 fl oz. spray bottle (they both come with the cleaner inside the bottle. Once the 2 fl oz runs out you can put some of the liquid from the 8 oz bottle to the 2 oz spray bottle - this will make your life easier); it also includes a little canister with a porous rubbing screen (grater like plate) on a riser in which you rub the brush on once its wet, to remove the dirt.

How to use it:

Using the 2 fl oz. spray bottle, spray some of the superman cleaner (lol) on the bristles of the brush. Next, you grate the brush inside the jar in circular motion (this will ensure that all the dirt and makeup is out of your brush). Finally, just pass your brush on a paper towel to make sure its super squeeky clean.
The brush will dry instantly and smell like a garden of oranges.

Everyone needs to go out and buy this stuff!!!! This brush cleaner cleans, conditions and disinfects your brushes.

Horse Shampoo, Doo Gro, Vitamins, Oh My

Horse Shampoo really does work!!!

The horse shampoo I have is straight from the Motherland (Dominican Republic) and it has been working wonders on my hair. The name of the shampoo I use is Porto Shampoo para Caballos (Coco-Suavidad), I have been religiously using this Shampoo since September. I have very oily and thin hair that is forever falling out and I must say this shampoo has helped a lot. My hair doesn't get as oily as it once did, the scent is greeeeeat--smells like coconut; the bottle is big-- 36.8 Oz (I have been using it since September and I still have enough for a couple more washes); and the quality of the fluid is fab- It cleans my hair so good and leaves it feeling soft and shiny.
But that's not the reason I purchased it. I bought it because my hair went on a strike and did not want to grow. But with this shampoo my hair has gotten much longer and thicker than it was, prior to me using it. It making my hair feel so awesome once I blow dry it.

Also Doo Gro products are a plus for styling/washing your hair. I use a Doo Gro Mega Thick Leave-In GRO Strengthner before I style my hair and it keeps my curls soft and bouncy. Doo Gro also carries shampoos, conditioners, hair creams, and leave-in products that also help with the growth and strength of all types of hair qualities.

Lastly, BIOTIN and Vitamin E.
Purchase a bottle of biotin and/or Vitamin E at your local pharmacy and drink one a day. These Vitamins help with hair, nails and skin. You cannot go wrong with Vitamins.
:)

hope you find this helpful xoxo

MAC experience

Sooooo yesterday I went to my local MAC store to buy a new foundation that had more coverage. I had recently gone to the MAC on 22nd and 5th ave., and the MAC associate told me to purchase the Face and Body foundation if I wanted more coverage. I ended up leaving without purchasing the foundation because something told me not to buy it. Point is that yesterday at the MAC on 42nd street, the associate was extremely helpful. I had told her that I wanted to try the Face and Body foundation because I wanted more coverage and that the lady at the 22nd street MAC had told me that this one was perfect. She looked at me with a surprised face and said, "she is soooo wrong. The Face and Body foundation is the sheerest thing ever. You would have to be constantly building coverage. I would recommend this to a teenager who is starting out. Not someone like yourself who seems to know what they're doing." She then smiled and said, "Your makeup tells me that you know a lot about this field." I kid you not, I was replaying the fact that I was 5 seconds away from buying a 33 dollar bottle of foundation that would've failed at what I was looking for, had I purchased it at the MAC on 22nd.

I guess the point of my story is that sometimes you cannot believe what a makeup sales associate tells you. Most of the time they're just trying to get a Sale out of you, (at the end of the day, that is all that really matters to them) versus trying to actually help you find something that fits you. BUT, if you get lucky, you'll get someone who actually know what they're doing. Maybe she was just tired or new, because I'm sure MAC makes their employee learn everything there is to know about their products.

My personal tip to you guys would be to do your research. Go on the website, read the description, look up reviews on the product, THEN decide if it's worth buying and if its right for you. Do not go out and buy something because its expensive or because everyone else is buying it-- that's dumb.

I ended up buying the Studio Fix Fluid. I LOVE IT.

Helpful Five

This is the start of something new I'm trying. Every week I'm going to post my "Helpful Five". Five beauty tips for Skin, Hair, Body and Nails, that I believe should be veryyyy helpful to my readers :) enjoyyy

 Avoid OVERLY Rosy Cheeks
Giving yourself a natural glow with blush is always great, but you'll want to avoid brushing on too much (or else you'll look like a clown). So always start your blush line two finger widths away from your nose and only apply it on the apples of your cheeks. This will ensure you create a natural glow without going overboard.

Blotting Paper
If you suffer from excessive Oily skin (I do!!) blotting paper should be your best friend. They absorb all the oil and prevent you from having constant breakouts-especially during the summer.

Thin Lips
If you're sick of having thin lips, extend your lip line using a neutral-toned lip liner. Then apply lipstick over top. Be careful though -- don't extend your lip line too much.

Clean Makeup Tools
If you keep your tools clean you would not have to worry about spreading germs, bacteria, or causing allergic reactions to the skin. I recommend my readers to purchase a daily brush cleaner for your makeup brush, in that case you know your brushes will last longer. When it comes to razors, eye lash curlers, tweezers, etc., clean them with an alcohol pad.

Wrinkles
IT IS NEVER TOO EARLY TO START USING AGING REWINDING/ANTI-WRINKLE CREAMS. The reason I used CAPS was to ensure that you read my emphasis on the statement. It is never too early for these products. It is actually recommended that one starts using these type of creams at the age of 18- go figure. So if you do not own an anti wrinkle or age rewinding cream, go purchase one now.

Plum Smokey Eye

Today I woke up in the mood for some color-- purple shadow of course. :) :)

- I used MAC' Sketch
- Wet n' Wild Mini Palette in 248 Lust. This mini palette bring 6 colors: 3 Matte and 3 Satin.
Matte: Lavender, Violet, Plum,
Satin: Cream, Gray, Violet/Black

I used the Lavender as a base for my lid and then I applied the violet all over my eye lid. I blended the shadow upward using Elf's Small Contour Brush. Then I applied the Plum and MAC Sketch all over my lid. I continued to blend the color upward to create a smokey effect.
**The key to eyeshadow is to always blend. ESPECIALLY when using more than one color, because the last thing you want is harsh lines.**
Using my Elf small precision brush, I drag the Plum color under my bottom lash line and smudged it. I applied MAC' Pure White Chromagraphic Pencil on my water line.
For my cat eye liner I used MAC' Blacktrack Fluid line.
For my lashes I used Revlon CustomEyes Waterproof Mascara in 921 Blackest Black

LIPS:
First, I applied concealer on my lips to even out my lip color, then I applied Revlon Lipstick in Hazelnut.

For my contouring I used MAC' Blush in Harmony. This is a matte blush.
For my highlight I used MAC' Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle.

I hope you guys enjoy this look as much as I did.

Eyes Lips Face REVIEW

Recently I ordered some products from ELF and I was not disappointed-like always.

ELF 144 Neutral Makeup Palette
photo.JPGThis palette is AWESOME! I love neutral colors the most when it comes to eye shadows. You can do so much with them, I’m telling you from personal experience; there are infinite possibilities. So I ordered this palette about a week or so ago and I finally received it a couple days ago. Of course I have not tried every single color but I can tell you right now that when I opened that package I almost cried. Makeup makes me way too happy (I don’t think that’s normal). I had ordered the palette along with the Nail Polish cube and the Makeup Brush Set (REVIEW on both later on in the post). What I honestly love about this palette is that it has both satin and matte finished eye shadows. I love matte colors as much as I love neutral. The only time I can force myself to use satin/shimmer eye shadows are for occasions or when I’m feeling myself, haha. But yes, AWESOME combo of matte and satin. Also the variety of dark and light shades of earth tones are fab! I even found a great brown for that brows that is the same as my Espresso eyeshadow from MAC. They also have some repeated colors in both finishes which I LOVEEEE! I love that I have a Matte Olive along with a Satin Olive. I also love the variety in undertone. Blue, yellow, red. I can go onnnn. As you can see I really do love this palette. It does justice for me, really glad I ordered it. I am pushing myself to order the Cool Palette because it never hurts to have a bunch of colors at a reach. I'm not too much of a bright colored eye shadow person, but I can totally pull off a purple smokey eye.

I do recommend for everyone to test out different colors on themselves because it is good to know which ones suit you best.
Anyways GREAT palette for only about $15.

ELF NAIL POLISH CUBE
Okay, so I really do love ELF. Everything that this company has is awesome. These nail polishes are gorgeous. Different ranges of colors, the intensity of the colors, and even the brush applicator is great. My favorite color so far is OF COURSE the dark plum one. Besides the fact that purple is my favorite color of all time, this nail polish color looks great against my skin and it is extremely glossy and shiny. I do wish the size of the bottle were bigger because just the thought of running out of this plum colored nail polish makes me a little bit sad. LOL.

LASTLYYYYYYYYY the brushes

For the new year ELF had an offer where you’d get the brush set for $2 with an order of $20.13 or more, AND I DID NOT hesitate to take out my card and place an order. Besides being super-duper cheap they work really really well. Before I ordered the brush set I had already owned the small smudge brush, eyeshadow "C" brush, and the concealer brush. With the set came 11 pieces and a case. I LOVE EVERY SINGLE BRUSH- duh! They are soft and pack on a lot of product, they are light weight  & easy to hold and work with while doing you’re makeup.
This set brings:
  • Sleek, Water-Resistant Case
  • Eyeshadow "C" Brush
  • Complexion Brush
  • Small Angled Brush
  • Small Smudge Brush
  • Fan Brush
  • Powder Brush
  • Angled Foundation Brush
  • Concealer Brush
  • Small Precision Brush
  • Blush Brush
  • Contouring Brush
I recommend these products because they’re affordable, great quality, and fab!
