Makeup Must Haves

I have been asked many times what I think are some must haves in a makeup bag. I never really knew because I pretty much used everything in mine, then over the years I realized that there were certain products that you NEEDED to have no matter what. It's a short list, but it can change the way you do your makeup and how awesome it will look.

1) a Primer.
Primers are always great to apply before you apply your foundation. It makes sure that the oil stay away and that your foundation looks good. It basically acts as a base for your makeup.

2) a good Moisturizer.
If you don't moisturize, your skin can possibly become hard to work with because the skin will be tight and airless. Sooner or later during your application process all the motions done to your face will cause your makeup to appear flaky.

3) a clear mascara/gel.
I love me some clear mascara!!!!! You can apply it on your brows and your lashes, its awesome. Keeps hair in place and locks in powders and waxes to your brows.

4) beauty blender.
We know that sometimes we don't have time to go through that time consuming process of apply foundation. If you get a blender you can apply foundation to your entire face in like 60 seconds. I am not even kidding. Hahaha

5) Eyeliner.
Obviously we all own an eyeliner. Its top five in my book mainly because it can change your eyes in sooo many ways.

6) Blush.
Get a blush that is at least a shade or two shades darker for contour and one a pink/orange blush that suits you. Apply the darker color on your cheek bones and the pinky/orangy (don't even think orangy is an actual word lol) on the apples of your cheeks. This will help you make your face look Ahhhhmazzzing.

7) Mascara.
DUH!!! I love me some mascara. It makes us look sexaaaay. Mascara helps our lashes stand out & potentially making our eyes appear outstanding.

8) Lippies
A Red and a Nude lipstick are the only two lipsticks you need to survive. I mean, i personally LOVEEEEEE lipstick and I can never have enough of them. BUT, if you only need two simply colors that can possibly transform a look its definitely Red and Nude.

9) Concealer
Ummmm, if you do not own a concealer, I honestly don't know what you're doing with your life (hahaha kidding), but seriously speaking, a concealer can hide away soooo many flaws on our faces. The possibilities are endless. I guess you can say that it acts as a temporary eraser to those dark circles, sun spots and all those other annoying marks on our faces. Trust me when I say that a concealer is THE way to go.

hope these helped!
till next post. love you all xoxo

Classic

During World War 2, resources for makeup were scarce, limiting women to only a small handful of products. Their signature look was Matte Skin, Red lips, Arched brows, and a barely there semi-winged liner. For them, red Lipstick was a 'War Time Accessory'. It became a staple. Being that the men were away at war, the women became the strong ones. The ones who worked, payed bills, and took on their husbands roles. They were strong and daring. This look is a timeless classic.

Eyes: MAC' Orb eyeshadow all over lid, ELF 3-in-1 black Mascara, MAC' Pure White Chromagraphic Pencil on my waterline, MAC' Blacktrack Fluid Line for my winged line.

Lips: MAC' Matte Russian Red

Cheeks: MAC' Harmony & MAC' Raizin

Helpful Five

Chipped Nails:
I get sooo tired of doing my nails on Monday to come and realize that they're already chipped on Wednesday. So basically my helpful tip is to apply a thin layer of clear nail polish every two days. Then just watch how long it actually lasts :)

Smokey Eye Mess:
There was a time where I used to do my smokey eye after doing my foundation and concealer only to realize that i had the black eyeshadow all over my face. So here's a trick! Do your smokey eye before applying your foundation, this way you're also cleaning whatever mistakes and mess you made. This tip has changed my life forever hahaha!

Winged eye liner:
Applying eye liner just above your upper lashes can change your eye tremendously. It helps enhance your eye in a way that you cant even imagine. So if you have a little time, simply do a quick liner and see how great you'll look.

Red Lipstick:
Not very red lipstick is good for every skin color. If you have warm undertones, go for a warm toned red. If you have cool under-tones, go for cool reds. (Post on lipstick coming soon)

Seasons come and Go:
Seasons change all year round. This means that you will not need to use your winter products during the spring. During the hotter months i recommend you use lighter products. (Its HOT no need for one thousand products on your face)

False Lashes

FALSIES FALSIES FALSIES, the dilemma begins. This is a topic many girls I know love to keep untouched. But I must admit, I was one of those girls that would keep all of her false lashes in the bottom of her makeup kit; away from sight. I guess it was the thought of attaching something with GLUE to my eye that scared me off a bit [I mean DUH you're going to be a little afraid, its our eyes we're talking about, one of the most sensitive features on our face.] Then one day I thought, what's the difference between applying falsies and using mascara, eyeshadow, contacts or any of those other products we use on our eyes? The answer? NOTHING. NADA. ZIP. Just like every other eye product, false eye lashes (and lash glue) are made with the eye in mind.
They make your eye appear much more sexier and flirtatious.
No, your lashes are not going to fall out.
No, the glue is not going to get into your eye [unless you don't follow the steps.]
No, the glue is not permanent.
No, the application process is not going to cost you an arm and a leg.
No, the removing process is not difficult.

The glue that most Makeup Artist use is DUO Eyelash Adhesive glue [ranges from $7-$9]. This glue attaches the band lash to your real lashes and keeps them on until you are ready to remove them. It is latex based so if you're allergic to latex, sadly, you should stray clear. :(

** Please note that when using falsies for the first time, it will feel weird and heavy on your eye. This is because you are applying a strip of hair to your eye. Bare with it.**
Okay so whats the process? Its fairly easy.

STEP 1: Choosing the Lashes you want
Of course there are many different kinds of lashes. There are different colors, sizes, types, forms, etc. Some of them are natural, some of them are super duper dramatic. If you want a cat-like eye, you'd go for a pair of lashes that are longer towards the end of the lash and if you want a more natural eye, you'd get a pair of lashes that resemble your natural lashes.

STEP 2: Sizing
You finally bought the lashes you want along with the glue. Next thing you do is size the lashes. You remove them from the packaging and gently bend them back and forth to loosen up the lash strip. You then place it on top of your lash line [do not begin the lashes directly on the inner corner of your eye but a few millimeters away]. If you realize they're way too long [width wise] just cut the extra piece that you will not be using.

STEP 3: Curl
With an eye lash curler, give your lashes a quick curl. Not an extremely tight gripping curl like you would to your natural lashes. The last thing we want is to damage them.

STEP 4: Adhesive
Personally, I NEVER apply the glue directly to the band lashes, mainly because the applicator of the Duo glue may cause you to apply an excessive amount of glue. I either use the back end of a small brush [like a liner brush, lip brush etc.] or a Q-tip stick. Once you dab some glue from the tube onto the back end of a brush or Q-Tip. Next, hold the lashes and GENTLY run the glue along the strip of the lash. Make sure to apply a bit more glue to the outer corners of the strip, because lashes tend to remove themselves from the corners of our eye if there's not enough glue. After the glue is on the lash strip, wait a couple seconds so that the glue can become tacky; this way it stays on forevaaaa! [Just kidding; not forever at least, but it will grip onto your lashes way better].

STEP 5: Applying the Lashes
Using either a pair of tweezers or your fingers, grab the side of the lash [make sure the lash strip is facing you] and looking into a mirror; place the lash strip directly above your natural lashes.

STEP 6: FINALLLLLLLY
You have reached the end of this big stepping stone in your makeup life [LOL]! You can apply a coat of mascara, so that your lashes and the falsies blend together.

REMOVING THE LASHES:
When I remove false lashes, I dab some baby oil or an eye makeup remover with a cotton ball, this way the glue will dissolve and the lashes will peel away easily. Remember, these falsies are attached directly onto your real ones so please DO NOT just pull these off until you dissolve the glue.

I hope everyone goes out soon and purchases a pair of false lashes and glue. Go on and try to apply a pair yourself and see how you feel. See how the lashes look and how they make your eye appear. Be patient and calm and you'll look fabuloussssss!

Helpful Five

Nude Lipstick:
ummmm if you do not own a Nude Lipstick, please go out right now and purchase one. A nude lipstick is an essential part in a makeup bag (as well as a Red one). They save your life when you're in a rush, they're easier to work with and can go with any look you have planned. My favorite Nude Lipstick for myself is MAC' Jubilee also YSL Sweet Honey.

False  Lashes:
Falsies are awesome for a night out or a special event. They're for those nights where an extra coat of mascara just won't do. Many females stay clear from this beauty accessory but I promise it's not as hard as you think. Falsies add definition to your eye and I promise you will be feeling yourself once you have them on.

Lemon Juice and Acne Scars:
Applying lemon juice to acne scars 3 times a week will help to lighten them and improve the surrounding skin tone. (I've tried it, it works).

White Eyeshadow:
Applying white/shimmer eyeshadow to the inner corners of your eyes and your brow bone will make your eyes pop. It will highlight your face and will have you saying goodbye to that 'I had a late night' face.
(You can also use white eyeliner as a base for your eyeshadow.)

Black Mascara:
A good black mascara can open up and define your eyes in an instant. Its good to apply mascara from the roots to the tips for extra length and volume. Also, don't ever forget your bottom lashes- they help frame your eyes.

PARIAN SPIRIT Review!

BEST. BRUSH. CLEANER. EVER.

I am not lying on how great this brush cleaner is. The first time I used this product was when I attended Beauty School. My teacher swore by it (now so do I). Its magic in a bottle and smells wonderful.

What it is:

This product is a brush cleaner that smells like oranges and leave your brushes cleaner than ever. Seriously. It takes the red lipstick color out of my lip brush without a problem. The package i ordered from Beautylish included an 8 fl oz. bottle that is used to refill the 2 fl oz. spray bottle (they both come with the cleaner inside the bottle. Once the 2 fl oz runs out you can put some of the liquid from the 8 oz bottle to the 2 oz spray bottle - this will make your life easier); it also includes a little canister with a porous rubbing screen (grater like plate) on a riser in which you rub the brush on once its wet, to remove the dirt.

How to use it:

Using the 2 fl oz. spray bottle, spray some of the superman cleaner (lol) on the bristles of the brush. Next, you grate the brush inside the jar in circular motion (this will ensure that all the dirt and makeup is out of your brush). Finally, just pass your brush on a paper towel to make sure its super squeeky clean.
The brush will dry instantly and smell like a garden of oranges.

Everyone needs to go out and buy this stuff!!!! This brush cleaner cleans, conditions and disinfects your brushes.

Horse Shampoo, Doo Gro, Vitamins, Oh My

Horse Shampoo really does work!!!

The horse shampoo I have is straight from the Motherland (Dominican Republic) and it has been working wonders on my hair. The name of the shampoo I use is Porto Shampoo para Caballos (Coco-Suavidad), I have been religiously using this Shampoo since September. I have very oily and thin hair that is forever falling out and I must say this shampoo has helped a lot. My hair doesn't get as oily as it once did, the scent is greeeeeat--smells like coconut; the bottle is big-- 36.8 Oz (I have been using it since September and I still have enough for a couple more washes); and the quality of the fluid is fab- It cleans my hair so good and leaves it feeling soft and shiny.
But that's not the reason I purchased it. I bought it because my hair went on a strike and did not want to grow. But with this shampoo my hair has gotten much longer and thicker than it was, prior to me using it. It making my hair feel so awesome once I blow dry it.

Also Doo Gro products are a plus for styling/washing your hair. I use a Doo Gro Mega Thick Leave-In GRO Strengthner before I style my hair and it keeps my curls soft and bouncy. Doo Gro also carries shampoos, conditioners, hair creams, and leave-in products that also help with the growth and strength of all types of hair qualities.

Lastly, BIOTIN and Vitamin E.
Purchase a bottle of biotin and/or Vitamin E at your local pharmacy and drink one a day. These Vitamins help with hair, nails and skin. You cannot go wrong with Vitamins.
:)

hope you find this helpful xoxo
